| O taro, também conhecido como inhame no centro-sul do Brasil, ocorre de forma selvagem na Ásia tropical se estendendo até o leste da Nova Guiné e provavelmente norte da Austrália. Acredita-se que o Taro foi domesticado no norte da Índia e Nova Guiné antes mesmo do arroz. Foi disseminado para China, Arábia e o leste do Egito há cerca de 2000 anos atrás (CEAGESP, 2002), tornando-se a cultura mais importante economicamente e culturalmente. De lá o taro foi levado pelos árabes para a África Ocidental. | Many research works have being carried out on analyzing grain storage facility costs; however a few of them had taken into account the analysis of factors associated to all pre-processing and storage steps. The objective of this work was to develop a decision support system for determining the grain storage facility costs and utilization fees in grain storage facilities. The data of a CONAB storage facility located in Ponta Grossa - PR, Brazil, was used as input of the system developed to analyze its specific characteristics, such as amount of product received and stored throughout the year, hourly capacity of drying, cleaning, and receiving, and dispatch. | Approximately 70% of the tropical crop species depend on pollinators for optimum yields (Roubik, 1995, Klein 2007). The economic value of such pollinated crops to India is $726 million and India is the world's second largest vegetable producer (Sidhu, 2005). This status has been underpinned by large-scale changes in land-use and pesticide dependency (Fazal, 2000; Shaw & Satish, 2007). A method (c.f. | No contexto do histórico de uso e ocupação das terras do Estado de São Paulo, que resultou na perda quase total de suas florestas originais e degradação dos remanescentes, as atividades agropecuárias são identificadas como potenciais condicionantes pela crescente expansão ocorrida nas últimas décadas. | The genome of the Puerto Rican parrot (Amazona vittata) has been sequenced and assembled in an international collaboration supported by many individual donations from the people of Puerto Rico. This is a critically endangered endemic bird, the only surviving native parrot species in the territory of the United States, and the first parrot belonging to the large genus Amazona to have its genome sequenced and assembled. | Our paper analyzes consumer preferences toward fresh rabbit meat and alternative marketing formats for rabbit meat. The empirical analysis uses consumer-level questionnaires to elicit information regarding consumer attitudes toward rabbit meat in Catalonia (Spain). We use the Dual Response Choice Experiment (DRCE) design which allows for analyzing forced and unforced options in choice experiments using the same sample. The Heteroscedastic Extreme- Value (HEV) model is used due to its relaxation of the restrictive assumption made in the Multinomial Logit Model regarding the identically distributed error term across alternatives.
